September 2012

September brought more heat and since the girls were in school we slowed down....just a little!

Thanks to Hurricane Issac we were able to spend some extra time with the Whatleys! Luckily we got to see the Whatley's a little longer than we originally planned for Labor day! I received an email around 3pm on the Monday before Labor Day weekend from Leigh that said,

"Guess who is going to be in Birmingham at 5pm today?"

I was so excited I could hardly get the words out to tell Ella that her buddies were going to be in Birmingham soon! So, at 5:30 we headed to Gigi's to see them!

They were so excited to see each other!

I was glad they were here and away from the storm!

After playing with them all week, we followed them to the lake {again}.

It was even hotter!

Sister didn't make it long on the boat! She had her Gigi there to watch her in the shade!

Chimney Rock....I dread the day they ask to climb and jump!

They waited on JB to jump but he decided that his bathing suit was falling off and that he needed to use the bathroom - right from the deck - gotta love boys!

We also celebrated Chat's birthday...aka Lisa Nichols. It was a weekend celebration at the lake and an Auburn game! It was a packed weekend with good friends, good food and the LSU game! 

Johnny is a great chef - he brought what he needed to fix us some fried green tomatoes!

He also can make some great guacamole! 

Lisa and I were playing with our cameras...obviously I need some more practice with my settings!

You can go ahead and believe that there was really kool-aid in this machine. I wish it would have just been kool-aid because what was really in there made us all a little sick. It was too sweet!!!

The boys had a great time. Even Conn joined us for the evening...which always makes things interesting. 

The next morning we headed to Auburn, tailgated all day, then went to the LSU game. It was a great game and I enjoyed being back at my Alma mater for a little while. 

I took our smaller camera to Auburn but can't find the cord to upload the pictures to our computer!

Yes, we were tailgating with LSU fans...but they are our friends first! It just made it more interesting!

The game didn't end like we wished but it was still a lot of fun! I enjoyed being there to celebrate this birthday with my friend Lisa! 

First Day of School 2012

The girls were thrilled about school starting this year! Ella entered 4K {5days}  while Caroline started a Mother's Day Out program {3 days}. We woke up early to get everyone ready and out the door. Caroline was so proud to be dressed like her sister and was ready for pictures!

Caroline went right in and didn't cry or even tell me bye! That may bother some...but not me! I'm glad she was excited and happy to stay there! I love Vestavia Day School and look forward to a great year!

Meet the Teacher

On August 15th the girls were invited to their school to meet their new teachers! Ella was so excited when she received her letter in the mail telling her the Mrs Jeana {our neighbor and sweet friend} and Mrs Cici were going to be her teachers in the Lion room!

Caroline received a postcard that said Ms. Patti & Mrs. Jeannine were going to be her teachers in the Duck room.

Summer Recap ~ Part 2

We love Vestavia's Library in the Forest. It has a great summer program too. The kids read {or in our case, the parents read} as many books as they can. For every 25 or 50 pages read the kids get a ticket. The tickets are then turned in for prizes. We LOVE to participate and Ella LOVES getting those prizes. At the end of the summer we had a very special guest come to the closing summer event! ROGER DAY! 

We love his songs and they are constantly playing in our car! Madison, the Reed's granddaughter, was in town and joined us for the event!

He is such a nice guy. We got there early to get a good seat, so we watched him set up. He would stop and play ball with some of the kids! Just a down to earth guy!

It was a fun event and we hope Roger comes back next year!

The next big event in our summer fun was Maggie's 4th Birthday Party!

Lauren asked me to take pictures at the party so I didn't get many with my own camera but I love the ones that I did get!

I can't say that the rest of our summer was too eventful OR uneventful...

....and this is why.

It was a VERY HOT SUMMER! So we played at the pool as much as we could and then usually the afternoon we were able to play outside a little bit.
